Mrs Coutts, Headmistress, said, ‘With 57 girls gaining straight A grades, that’s more than 50% of the year group and I am, of course, proud of these results. Girls and staff have worked hard to achieve this, and I congratulate them. At Headington, girls learn to balance work and play, and I know that these girls will contribute much more to their universities than mere academic success.’
Of the 57 girls who gained straight A-grades, 34 had three As, 14 had four As, eight had five As and one girl took an astonishing six As. Other outstanding successes include one candidate who was amongst the top 10 in the country in edexcel’s Drama and Theatre Studies course, and another who scored one of the top five marks in AQA Home Economics. One of our mathematicians scored an astonishing 698/700 across seven modules of maths exams, dropping just two marks in two years.
Headington’s great results were spread across 30 different subjects. All candidates sitting A levels in Law, Greek and Music passed at grade A, and all of those taking Physics, Environmental Science, Further Maths, IT, Photography, Art Textiles, Fine Art, History of Art, English Literature, Drama, German, Chinese and Classical Civilisation passed at grade A or B.
Congratulations to all of our candidates! We wish them all the very best of luck as they go on to their universities of choice next term.
GCSE 200841 girls found straight As or A*s in their results envelopes this year, with five girls scoring A*s across all of their 11 or 12 subjects. Four of our candidates were delighted to receive letters stating that they were amongst the top 10 students in the country sitting Edexcel’s ICT GCSE – an achievement made all the more remarkable by the fact that they all sat the exam a year early in Year 10! (Lower 5). 8373 GCSE candidates sat the ICT exam nationwide.
Commenting on these superb results, Headmistress Mrs Coutts said, ‘I have a fellow feeling for this year group, who started their career at the senior school at Headington at the same time as I took up my post as Head. I’m delighted to see them do so well.’
Girls achieved some fantastic grades in all subjects, but of particular note were ICT, Art and Design Textiles, Religious Studies, English Language and Literature, Drama, German, Chinese and PE, where every candidate passed at grade A*-B.
