How to apply

There are five steps in the application process for Headington School, Oxford. These are outlined below. If you have any questions regarding entry to Headington, please contact the Admissions Department at any time. Our experienced team will be happy to help with any queries that you may have.

Step 1: Prospectus request

Our prospectus pack provides prospective pupils and parents with a complete overview of life at Headington.

Order a hard copy online, or call 01865 759 113. Our prospectuses are also available to download as PDFs at the bottom of this page.

Step 2: School visit

We encourage all prospective pupils and their parents to visit the school in order to meet our girls, staff and Headmistress, and to experience our facilities at first hand. Three Open Mornings take place each year for the Senior School and Sixth Form, and a separate Sixth Form Options Evening takes place in the Autumn Term. A Prep School Open Afternoon takes place each term. Visit our Open Events page for full details.

Our Open Events offer the ideal opportunity for you to experience the school for the first time, particularly if you are considering entry in two or more years' time. If you plan to join the school in 12-18 months time, we can also arrange individual visits, which include school tours and one-to-one meetings with senior staff. You are welcome to arrange an individual visit, regardless of whether or not you have attended an Open Day already. Contact Admisssions to arrange an appointment.

Step 3: Registration

Registering your daughter at Headington will ensure that her name is added to our provisional entry lists, and will enable us to keep in touch with you. To register, you should complete the form at the back of the School Handbook (mailed to you with your prospectus) and return it to us with your registration fee (£75 UK; £125 overseas). Please note that the fee is non-refundable. If payment of the registration or other fees will cause your family significant hardship, please contact the Admissions Department on 01865 759 113.

Step 4: Interview and examinations

There are no interviews nor examinations for girls joining the school at 6+ or younger. Entry at all other entry points in the Prep School, Senior School and Sixth Form is by interview and examination. Visit our Entry Requirements pages for full details.

Step 5: Accepting a place

On acceptance of a place, a deposit is requested, which will be refunded at the end of your daughter's last term at the school. Overseas candidates are also required to pay the first term's fees in advance.
