Headingtonians' Fund

“Though no wealthy benefactor has yet appeared we hope that the united efforts of many may produce the necessary capital….”

Headmistress K.L. Porcher writing in the 1928 edition of The Headingtonian dwelling on the future of the school's new buildings which were eventually completed in 1930.

The United Kingdom has some of the leading independent Girls' schools in the world, and Headington's international reputation for excellence has resulted in a current student body representing over 30 nationalities. The success of the School has been all the more remarkable as unlike many independent Boys' Schools in this country, we have not benefited from centuries of growing endowments or significant support from Trusts or Liveries to fund the School's development. In addition, while many independent Boys' schools can regularly and successfully call upon the support of their ‘old boys’, Girls’ schools in this country have not enjoyed similar levels of support from their alumnae.

Headington School has therefore established The Headingtonians Fund, which provides former students and staff with the opportunity to lend their support and commitment to current and future generations of girls at the School.

Your support can help with the following areas:

Bursaries & Scholarships
Headington is committed to ensuring that talented students whose families are experiencing financial difficulties, can continue their education at the School uninterrupted with the support of Scholarships and bursaries.

Learning
The School is committed to providing additional books, periodicals and other learning materials in topics of special interest to students beyond the curriculum.

Music
Headington requires additional support so that the School can provide music tuition and musical instruments for gifted students whose parents are unable to afford these.

Sports & Activities
Sport plays an important role in life at Headington and the School is keen to ensure that our sportswomen have access to expert coaching and facilities regardless of their financial backgrounds. We also want to make sure that funding is available to support those sportswomen who travel representing their School, county or even country.
