Forest School

Headington Prep and Cornflower Nursery are proud to be members of Forest Schools Education since September 2014. At Cornflower, we use the richest classroom we have – the outdoors – and we have plenty of it, with extensive grounds and wooded areas.

The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire children through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.

The girls develop team working skills and learn to become more independent and take risks. They are stimulated by the outdoors and typically experience increased confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills, and emotional wellbeing.

In Nursery, the girls have one Forest School session per week.
