CCF at their biannual inspection CCF Cadets ready for action!

CCF

CCF at HeadingtonHeadington School is one of only a handful of girls’ schools to have its own CCF, which was founded in 2003. We run an Army detachment and now have around 60 cadets from the L5 and above.

The Contingent parades once a week, with additional evening activities (such as shooting on the range at Radley College). There are regular field weekends involving various skills such as field craft, camp craft, military skills and orienteering as well as residential Easter and summer camps and joint expeditions with other schools such as Magdalen College School and Pangbourne College.

CCF at HeadingtonIn addition, the CCF also run large numbers of very inexpensive courses for cadets, ranging from sports diving and sailing to first aid and leadership, both at home and overseas.

A Soldier's Story

The Headington CCF contingent were recently treated to a presentation on today’s Middle-Eastern conflicts delivered by Sgt Travis, a Grenadier Guard who has served in the British Army for ten years including operational tours in Bosnia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Read a review of his presentation, written by a member of the CCF.
