Coaching by Mr Grierson, Badminton Association of Great Britain. As well as playing against each other and other local schools, Headington's badminton players take part in an annual match against a team of Headington staff!

"I have played badminton since I was twelve, and I played it for leisure and as a family sport. At first I joined the Badminton Coaching section in Headington School because I just purely wanted to do some sports.

"However, my views have changed after playing in the team for a year. I had a lot of fun in the first year in Badminton Team because the Coach was very kind and has taught me a number of different skills, and the other members were all very enthusiastic and passionate about badminton which changed my attitude towards the sport.

"We always have surprises in lessons because the Coach, Ian, always brings in creative ideas to coaching the team. Do not think badminton coaching is always intensive trainings, we also have a lot of fun and games. For example, in Christmas or Easter, he would hold competitions within the team and we had to beat everyone to get the gift, could be a chocolate egg or a certificate! I am always looking forward to the next lesson and his surprises!

"Before joining the team, I played badminton just for fun, but after being in the team for one year, I think my skills have improved a lot and I had more confidence on playing badminton. Now, badminton becomes one of my main and favourite sports because of the Badminton Coaching sections in Headington." By Stephanie, U5
